THE HARDEST PART

HOW TO THINK OF
WHAT TO WRITE ON THE E-CARD

MY SUGGESTIONS

USING QUOTATIONS

MY SUGGESTIONS

1) CHOOSE A PICTURE THAT IS MEANINGFUL TO YOU

THE REASON I SUGGEST YOU CHOOSE A PICTURE THAT'S MEANINGFUL TO YOU IS BECAUSE WITH A PICTURE THAT "SPEAKS TO YOU," YOU CAN JUST "LISTEN" TO WHAT THAT PICTURE IS SAYING TO YOU AND WRITE ABOUT THAT. .IF YOU ALSO BRING THE RECIPIENT OF THE E-CARD (NOTECARD, ACTUALLY) INTO WHAT YOU WRITE (JUST FOR EXAMPLE, YOU MIGHT ADD, "WHAT DOES THIS MAKE YOU THINK OF?" OR "DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN....?" OR "HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ONE OF THESE?"), THEN YOU WILL HAVE A COMPLETE MESSAGE, IN VERY FEW SENTENCES, THAT IS REALLY A LITTLE "CONVERSATION" BETWEEN THE THREE OF YOU: YOU, THE RECIPIENT, AND THE PICTURE THAT INSPIRES YOUR WRITING.

HINTS & SYMPATHY

A few thoughts for the writer who can't think of what to write --

There is nothing to write about, you say. .Well then, write and let me know just this - that there is nothing to write about; or tell me in the good old style if you are well. .That's right. .I am quite well. -- Pliny the Younger (62 AD - 114 AD), Letters

My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way. -- Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961)

Step off assuredly into the blank of your mind. / Something will come to you. -- Richard Wilbur, Poet

Writing is no trouble: you just jot down ideas as they occur to you. .The jotting is simplicity itself - it is the occurring which is difficult. -- Stephen Leacock

Note: Unfortunately, YOU CAN'T USE QUOTATION MARKS ("") when you're
typing your message - DON'T FORGET, or the message WON'T SHOW UP
AT ALL
under the picture (from the point where you insert the first quotation mark) when the recipient picks it up!

You CAN use single marks, for example when typing isn't and we're.

USING QUOTATIONS

If you have five spare minutes (well, it depends on how slow your computer is), you can go to one of the pages below -- I looked at them all -- and grab a quote you like that goes with a picture on one of my e-cards, and come back here and put it in the message you're going to send. - SEE QUOTATIONS LINKS BELOW THIS IMPORTANT NOTE:
