1) BLICK ART MATERIALSBlick has sets of the colored Conte crayons and the Conte sketching crayons. They sell the "colorful" ones in what they call "color sets" but I don't know what colors they are -- These "color sets" come in sets of 12, 24, and 48. The set of 12 costs $16.89, the set of 24 costs $29.28, and the set of 48 costs $56.64. They also have an "assorted" set (I don't know if these are sketching crayons or the colored crayons) for $16.89 for a box of twelve. They have a "portrait color set" of twelve for $16.89. They also have many different sets of two, or twelve, of the sketching crayons, at various prices. It's best that you go to the link just above to see this page as the prices are too confusing to list here. The list of prices is at the bottom of the page, so you'll have to scroll down to see them. On this page they show sets called "Blue Box Sets" of Conte Crayons. These apparently have assorted colors in them. The box of twelve crayons costs $15.99 and the box of twenty-four crayons costs $29.99. On this page they have extra-large sizes of Conte sketching crayons (not many colors to choose from). Be sure to scroll down these pages to see prices. They also have Conte Pastel Pencils, Conte Sketching Pencils, and Conte Compressed Charcoal on the Blick site. Set of 12 PORTRAIT - Price: $21.40 They also have a variety of the "classic" (sketching) Conte crayons on cards (two to a card), for $3.75 per card.
6) NORTHWEST GRAPHIC SUPPLY(Site added August 1, 2009) They are at 4200 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55406 This is a PDF file and so it is hard to see "as is." You must use the magnifier, if you can figure out how to do it. (Click on the tiny magnifying glass, then click on the page you want to enlarge -- as often as you need to so that you can read it.) Then you can read everything, including the prices. On their page "20 of 113" (see this page number in opening at bottom), there are Conte crayons listed, both the sketching kind and the kind with all the colors. There are 48 colors of the "colorful" kind. They are sold by dozens, it says, but it may be referring to the sets that you get where you can't choose the colors...I don't know. It does list the box sets separately (12 assorted portrait colors; 12 assorted landscape colors; 12 assorted classic colors; 12 assorted colors; 24 assorted colors; 48 assorted colors). And they have the sketching Conte crayons (earth colors, grays, and white), which are sold in boxes of twelve or cards of two. All of their Conte crayons are listed under HARD PASTELS, by the way. NOTE: They describe the "colorful" Conte Crayons as being exactly like ("waxy, hard, dustless") the Conte "Sketching" Crayons, but they are not. They're dustier, and not waxy, though they're harder than soft pastels.
